Besides the larger wheels, TRD will offer enthusiasts a whole set of factory-backed parts to tune the Scion tC, including body kits, Carbon Fiber Hoods, fenders, spoilers, ect... They will offer a lowering kit, struts/shocks kid, performance clutch, short-throw shifter, sport muffler, and a rear anti-sway bar, among other things. But the most drool-worthy piece is a supercharger kit that raises horsepower to around 200.
Other than the TRD toys and stuff like LED lights for the footwells, the tC comes with just about everything standard. That includes the aforementioned seventeen-inch wheels, a panoramic moonroof, XM-ready 160 watt Pioneer 6-disc audio system, driver's knee airbags, 4-wheel discs with ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, cruise control, keyless entry, air conditioning, and power windows and door locks. A 4-speed auto is a $800 option, and side airbags cost $650.
As for the tC we have been getting a ton of emails wondering when carbon fiber hoods for the TC will make their way into our warehouse. If we could use the XB as a guage, I would say that we will be recieving the first TC carbon fiber hoods in May most likely from VIS or Carbon Creations. We expect Seibon to follow suit with a couple of striking new designs as they leave the OEM Carbon Fiber Hoods configurations to VIS Carbon Fiber hoods and Carbon Creations Carbon Fiber hoods.
A lot of tuners like to add a carbon fiber hoods on their tC. Opposed to the steel factory hoods, these carbon fiber hoods can reduce the weight of the vehicle by as much as 40 or 50 pounds on some applications. This modification, when added to other weight reducing modifications, can slightly decrease 0-60 times and marginally improves handling and acceleration.
The other reason is the cool textured looking finish. Add a few carbon fiber touches as a theme throughout the vehicle and this can score some major style points.
These carbon fiber hoods are fairly expensive for their weight reducing capabilities, but add a lot of style for the money. Once you have purchased the hood you want, it's time to get it installed. You may need a hand removing the factory hood due to its weight, but once it is removed, you should be able to handle the much lighter carbon fiber hood.
