Each Carbon Fiber trim kit are made with special high press vinyl laminate over the carbon fiber. This is done for several reasons. First the carbon fiber becomes glossy but the thickness is still very thin. When installed on the car it makes the kit look flush to the body as if the kit was made from Carbon Fiber from the factory. The second reason we do not use polyurethane is the trim kit always sees the sun, dirt, rain etc. Clear polyurethane, doesn't matter how high quality it is fades in these conditions. Even your own clear coat on your car fades over time. The Polyurethane clear coat once exposed to the sun has a lifetime of one year before it starts losing color. Especially if you purchase the cheaper kits from overseas you can only imagine how fast they will turn yellow or crack.
